Is My Rider Ready? (Entry Standard)
Riders must be able to:
- Ride black features at speed and in full control — steeper descents, tight switchbacks, technical rock/root sections
- Climb sustained hills (≈ up to 3 km) without dismounting
- Maintain pace and stamina on longer, technical rides
Skill Level Guide (Context)
Advanced
- Beginning to race competitively (or riding at equivalent standard)
- Comfortable on black trails: steeper descents, tighter corners, technical features
- Strong line choice, advanced braking, consistent pace control
- Developing refined technique, speed management, race craft, and trail etiquette at pace
Age Guidance
Typically suits riders aged 12+.
Younger riders are unlikely to be suitable due to pace, intensity, and terrain.
Bike & Equipment Requirements
This program rides fast, rough terrain — bikes must be safe, durable, and suitable for advanced trail use.
Recommended bike spec
- Quality front suspension (rear suspension strongly recommended)
- Hydraulic disc brakes in excellent working order
- Durable drivetrain; quality pedals
- Well-adjusted gears shifting cleanly
- Tyres with solid tread
- 27.5″ wheels or larger
- Regular professional servicing
Minimum preparation for every session
- Bike safety check: brakes functional, bolts tight, gears shifting well, tyres inflated
- Rider brings at least 1.5 L water and can carry it
- Rider carries a spare tube (including tubeless setups) — we recommend strapping one to the frame
Unsafe bikes or flats without a compatible tube may require removing a rider from the session, impacting the whole group.
Protective Equipment
Mandatory (all sessions)
- Australian Standards–approved helmet
- MTB-specific footwear
- Full-finger gloves (compulsory on road trips)
Additional road-trip mandatory items
- Full-face helmet
- Knee pads
Recommended
- Knee pads weekly
- Elbow pads
Wet Weather, Cancellations & No-Shows (Please Read)
- Pricing assumes 6 of 9 weeks will run each term
- If conditions allow, we will run all 10 weeks at no extra cost (up to 3 bonus/make-up sessions built into the term)
- We ride in rain when safe; severe weather, trail closures, or shuttle-park decisions may require postponement or cancellation
- Road-trip dates/locations may change due to weather, trail conditions, or third-party operations
- Your enrolment reserves your rider’s place for the full term; term pricing does not include refunds/credits or alternative classes for missed weeks
- Strict capacity limits mean we generally cannot move riders between programs to make up missed sessions
- No credits/refunds for unused portions where riders cannot or choose not to attend remaining lessons
