My wife and I decided last minute to go for a E-Bike ride because the weather looked great. Matt and the team were very friendly and able to offer some E-Bikes and suggested we go for a ride up to the top of Mt Tinbeerwah. The bikes were fantastic! We were able to go up the Hills with ease and enjoyed the scenery on the way up. On the way down we went to the Marina at Tewantin for a beer and drinks. When we got back Matt gave a us voucher for the brewery across the road which just topped it off. All in all a great 3hrs spent and great value for money. Based on a recommendation from another staff member I had booked and paid for an ebike to do a 84km ride. I had explained that I have an arthritic knee and I need the electric assistance. When I arrived to pick up the bike, Matt told me he would not personally use the EMTB for the path I was doing. He spent a lot of time telling me why the EMTB is not the best for me. I was trying to tell Matt the type of riding I do and that I am experienced except he was talking over the top of me. When I asked what bike he would recommend instead, he became upset and wouldn't show me. I asked again if he could show me because I prefer to be upright rather than bent over the handlebars on an EMTB. Rather than discussing options, he told me I was being “too difficult,” cancelled my booking, and refunded my money. He then threatened to call the police and asked me to leave the premises. Everyone wants to get on with their day peacefully without the unnecessary aggravation. Even getting a printed receipt for the refund was made unnecessarily difficult. In my experience, this business does not want to listen to customers or support their needs for a safe and comfortable ride. Matt twisted the situation around rather than calmly working through a solution. I would not recommend this place to others. It was the most disappointing experience I have had while travelling in the last 40 years. UPDATE Thank you for your reply. To clarify, I remained calm and respectful throughout the interaction. I simply sought clarification about the most appropriate bike for my needs, based on advice provided by your staff at the time of booking. When I mentioned that the experience could impact the review I would leave, your staff member openly stated that they did not care. That is not the response of a business focused on customer service. Rather than attempting to work through the situation, my booking was cancelled without notice. I had travelled from Caloundra, stayed overnight in accommodation, and had planned for a 84 kilometre ride — there was no reason for me to want anything other than to proceed with the booking as planned. After the booking was cancelled and I felt verbally abused, I waited for the police to arrive in order to help sort out the situation and ensure I received a refund, because of the way the cancellation was handled. I made it clear that I was happy to wait for the Police to arrive, given the way I had been treated. The staff member continued to threaten to call the Police instead of working through the situation calmly, but no Police ever attended. I have no commercial conflict of interest. I was a genuine paying customer, simply seeking a suitable bike for a long-distance ride, considering my medical needs. I stand by my review based on the treatment I received. It was disappointing to see that even when given the opportunity to turn the situation around, the staff made it clear that they "did not care".
