The local MTB crew has formed a working group with QPWS to help maintain the tracks in this forest, our first working bee was in December 2005, it was a great success with the track into the old quarry looking in much better shape. The old quarry is too become the new ranger's office for the Sunshine Coast & will be a great benefit for Noosa MTB'ers.
3rd Working Bee
Successful trail reroute Thanks to riders Roger, Geoff, Mat's, Gail, Justin, Don, Guy, Nathan, Sandy and to Graham from QPW for the great effort on Saturday. The trail west of the old quarry was relocated along the IMBA principles to follow contours, and the old eroded trail has been re vegetated. The outcome is far better trail to ride and hopefully no more damage from erosion. If you get the chance go check it out and remember the next trail care day is in June. Those of you keen to train on the 100K course should get in touch with local club rep Roger Newton who is organising some training rides. info@bikeon.com.au
The second working bee was held on 11th Feb.. 06 with 9 Noosa MTB crew member's & 3 QPW ranger's. We worked on the old quarry track again, this time putting a clay base over the rock's we laid in December. The track divided into two tracks near the quarry, we all agreed to close one of the tracks that have water problems & improve the the other track. So if you are entering the quarry track from the quarry, the entrance is about 20 meter's closer to the weetie bix track.
The Noosa Trail Network has over 200 kim's of track, Noosa Bike Hire & Tours have adopted trail 4 & have had a working bee clearing overhanging branches & repaired a creek bed.
