Cycle skills

Join us on a cycle skills training course. We replicate potentially dangerous situations that cyclists find themselves in everyday into a safe learning area. Topics covered include correct body position, safe braking, emergency stopping, rider awareness, turn types, riding up a gutter, over a log and ducking obstacles etc.

  • The usual starting age for our school based Cycle Skills programs is grade 4 (9-10 years old). We also tailor our skills courses to challenge older and more experienced cyclists within the junior and senior school age range.

  • Cycle skills is also well received by adult groups from various companies and sporting groups looking to expand thier skills, feel safer and more confident whilst training on the road, commuting to work or taking a leisurely ride.

  • Bike On can deliver Cycle skills programs to most school and business locations in South East Queensland and by arrangement, further abroad.

  • We cater for groups from 4 to 40+ and can provide bikes and equipment for participants or they can bring their own.

In 2005, utilising a partnership with Noosa Council and Queensland Transport we started our Cycle skills and Cycle safe programs as part of the regions Travel Smart Initiative. Within the schools in Noosa the program is a great success, in-fact it contributes to a 38% reduction in vehicle kilometers traveled in Tewantin. The result in Tewantin is one of the best ever recorded in Australia, Europe and the United States. In 2007 Bike On put just under 3,000 students through the Bike Education program. This relationship continues to grow with more schools choosing Bike On for thier cycle education each year, in 2010 the number of students completing our bike education program has grown to 4300!  we continue to strive towards making the Sunshine Coast a safer cycling environment for all.
